Shri K. J. Patel, Managing Director of IFFCO, is a seasoned professional with a career spanning nearly four decades in the cooperative fertilizer sector. Born on 17th November 1963, he pursued B.E. in Mechanical Engineering and joined IFFCO as a Graduate Engineer Trainee at Kalol Unit, Gujarat on 5th January 1985. He was absorbed into service as a Junior Engineer in 1987 and, through his dedication, technical expertise, and leadership qualities, rose steadily through various positions to take charge as the Managing Director of IFFCO on 1st August 2025.
Throughout his career, Shri Patel has demonstrated exceptional commitment to operational excellence and organizational growth. His contributions to IFFCO’s overseas joint venture, OMIFCO in Oman, were widely recognized, following which he was transferred to IFFCO’s Paradeep Unit in October 2012 to head the Maintenance function. Under his guidance, the unit witnessed remarkable improvements in systems, processes, plant reliability, and safety standards. In March 2019, he became Unit Head of Paradeep and steered the unit to record production and dispatches in 2020–21. He also demonstrated exceptional crisis management during cyclonic storms Fani, Bulbul, and Amphan, ensuring safety and uninterrupted operations. His handling of industrial relations and coordination with government and industry stakeholders earned him wide appreciation.
His contributions brought IFFCO several prestigious awards from FAI, the Government of Odisha, and NGOs for excellence in environment, safety, and project execution. Later, as Director (Technical) from October 2024 to July 2025, he successfully managed the overall performance of all IFFCO plants. Known for his integrity, professionalism, and people-centric leadership, Shri Patel continues to guide IFFCO with vision and determination as its Managing Director.
